The Sydney
Catholic Lawn Cemetery was established for the Catholic Community under the
auspices of His Eminence, the late Sir Norman Cardinal Gilroy , in 1965.
More recently
(1998) the Liverpool Catholic Club bought the cemetery with the view of
continuing to service the Catholic Community, however all other
denominations are provided for.
The cemetery
is located at 230- 260 Western Road Kemps Creek, approximately 20 minutes south
of Liverpool. The cemetery is set in approximately 10 hectares of natural
parkland and offers traditional lawn burials.
An annual
pilgrimage to the cemetery and the blessing of the graves is held the first
Sunday after All Souls Day every year.
The cemetery
conducts on average110 burials per year with a notable increase of interment of
cremated remains.
