A Unique Environment!

Only Waverley Cemetery can offer you the beauty of a traditional cemetery by the open ocean.  Our monuments are a tribute of our sense of respect for our ancestors and the art of monumental masons.

Waverley Cemetery is a place for quite contemplation and reflection.  A place to express thanks for so many great deeds

done by so many great Australians.

You too can become a part of Australian History.

Waverley Cemetery is recognised worldwide as Sydney's pre-eminent cemetery.  Many important men and women who have shaped Australia and its development are buried here.  To ensure your place in history allotments are currently available for at-need services & pre-arrangements.  Every one of our graves and memorials has been prepared by hand since 1877.  No cumbersome machines are used at Waverley.

Monumental Allotments.

Monumental allotments are currently available.  The "Rights of Burial" may accommodate multiple interments.  Check with the office for prices, availability and tenure details.  Our patrons may select from any of the available areas that best suit their needs.  Grave maintenance "Care Plans" are also available with special pensioner rates.  You need not be a resident of the area to arrange a funeral service at Waverley.

You may choose to have prayers or words of committal at the grave overlooking the ocean or a funeral service entirely in a church or a funeral chapel. Waverley Cemetery works with many long established reputable funeral homes from across Sydney.

Choosing Cremation?

When choosing cremation we have intimate Memorial Garden areas with a choices of niche walls in Australian granite or memorial plaques set on mellowed sandstone edging around decorative memorial roses.  Within easy walking distance from the office and main gates these garden memorials for ashes can be secured now for future use.

Monumental Construction

When selecting an allotment in a special place like Waverley there are some important considerations in choosing a headstone to mark an interment.  Waverley is noted for its quality monuments and the predominant materials to be used here are white marble and sandstone.  A quality monumental mason will be able to provide you the necessary details or ask at the cemetery office for a guide to selecting headstones.
