What are the requirements for Persons Without Means Funeral (Destitute Funeral) and how is it arranged?

Answer

Where the deceased's estate is destitute or has insufficient funds for a funeral service AND where no individual person is willing to make the funeral arrangements, a statutory authority may make the necessary arrangements. The statutory authority will usually be the one caring for the deceased's body. For example,
  • the Police
  • the Coroner
  • the Hospital Registrar
You should contact the relevant authority for more information.
