Faulconbridge crematorium debate update
While on the one hand Blue Mountains City Council is scheduled to deal with the Faulconbridge Crematorium next week, on the other the applicant, The Carrick Group Pty Ltd, has lodged a class one planning appeal against deemed refusal of its development application by the council on July 9, a Land and Environment Court spokesperson said in a statement.Such action can be taken where a development application has not been approved within 40 days and is therefore deemed to be refused.Opponents of the development hosted a visit by the Greens’ newly-appointed NSW upper house MP David Shoebridge at the site last Monday, September 13. Mr Shoebridge told those present he would bring the issue up with Planning Minister Tony Kelly during state Budget estimates next week, a spokeswoman for the group said.
A large number of opponents are also expected to attend next week’s council meeting.
