More vandal damage at Wollongong Cemetery

Posted by: Administrator
The Illawarra Mercury reports today that vandals have launched a heartless attack on Wollongong Cemetery, damaging 12 crypts and setting graveside flowers alight.

The council's director of works and infrastructure Peter Kofod said the damage was limited to a dozen crypts belonging to families of Italian descent."I am sure we join with the rest of the community when we express disgust at this senseless act of destruction," he said.

It is the third cemetery vandalism attack in the region in less than a year.
