State MP backs fight against Faulconbridge crematorium

The controversial Faulconbridge crematorium proposal could soon be thrust onto the state stage following NSW Upper House MP Lee Rhiannon’s vow to take up the issue.

The Greens MP visited the Mountains last Thursday, May 27 to meet with the party’s Macquarie candidate, Carmel McCallum, and chat to local lobby groups about traffic issues, Springwood’s rejuvenation and the proposed crematorium.

Ms Rhiannon said she was impressed by the anti-crematorium lobbyists’ arguments, saying the proposed site on the Great Western Highway was “clearly the wrong place for a crematorium”.
