Cemetery photos a tribute to lives

A BOLD decision to open up Macquarie Park Cemetery to photographers has been so successful the competition will run again next year.

Macquarie Park marketing manager Tom Sweeney said he thought the Macquarie Park Photo Competition, held in conjunction with the North Shore Times, was a first for a cemetery in Australia.

Some people denounced the competition as inappropriate to a cemetery, but we have gone a long way to dispel this opinion as the cemetery is part of this community and holds the memories of many thousands of families.” The competition was so successful it will run again next year with the theme “setting sun”.
