THE Temora community is hopeful a bigger reward will secure the prosecution of the vandals responsible for desecration of the town's cemetery, according to local paper The Daily Advertiser. Temora Shire Council, local business owners and mayor Peter Spiers have united to offer a $25,000 reward for information leading to the prosecution of the vandals responsible for the damage.

Almost three months ago, 49 grave sites in the monumental section of the cemetery were vandalised.

The damage was estimated to be about $80,000.

Community outrage at the devastating attack prompted Temora Shire Council to issue a $5000 reward in October, in the hope of finding those responsible for the damage.

Cr Spiers said he wasn't surprised the community continued to feel so strongly about the vandalism.

"There are some things the community rolls with the punches a bit and this isn't one of them," he said.

"The community is standing up for these families and those who were in the community in a past life."
