vandalismNorthern Tablelands independent MP Richard Torbay has welcomed the jailing of a man responsible for vandalising the Armidale Cemetery. According to the ABC in New England, "In October 2009 Bradley Whelan and an under-age friend, both heavily intoxicated, desecrated 56 headstones, causing around $200,000 damage.

Yesterday in Armidale Local Court, 23 year old Mr Whelan was sentenced to a maximum 10 months in prison and fined $8,000. The money will go to the funeral directors who have done much of the repair work at the cemetery."
