Braidwood Cemetery Headstone Restoration Project

A sub-committee of the 355 Braidwood Historic Cemetery Committee met recently at the cemetery to decide the order of priority for headstones to be restored and the site for an information notice board with a grant from Bendigo financial services.

Five graves were selected with a start to be made on two graves as funding permits. The graves selected are grave no 721 Richard Callanan who died in 1886 aged 62 years and his son James who died in 1896 aged 28 years. Grave no. 288 Laddie Wichard died 30th November aged 4 years From his Mumma and Dadda S&A Wichard. Grave 542 Charles Alfred Ah You died 10th Nov 1895 aged 25 years. Others being considered in the initial stages of headstone restoration are Grave 369 Rees Llewellyn died 2 July 1902 aged 59 years and grave 360 William Froude Flashman.
