Qld. Cemetery takeover causing stir
The lawn cemetery was set up during the ‘60s to provide a service, which, at the time, wasn’t available in Warwick. Initially, customers purchased both a plot and prepaid the burial.
While it ceased offering pre-paid burials in the ‘70s, at last check there were still 230 pre-existing agreements on the books, according to Mr Ferguson.
“We don’t know how many are still required,” Mr Ferguson said.

Emotions ran high at Monday night's meeting as Chaffey Ward councillor Shane Bourke received unanimous support for a notice of motion calling on Health Minister David Davis to take immediate action following persistent criticism about overgrowth, mud and sunken graves.
It comes in the wake of a hurried clean-up of Werribee cemetery last week by management, forcing the cancellation of a community working bee organised by Tarneit MP Tim Pallas for this Saturday.
