Business Day in the SMH says this about the Invocare takeover of Bledisloe :

Who says the competition watchdog doesn't have a sense of humour?

The announcement went out yesterday: ACCC not to oppose funerals acquisition after undertaking resolves concerns.

It was good news for InvoCare investors, with the listed undertaker only having to dispose of a funeral directing business in North Sydney and crematorium in North Brisbane before being allowed to continue with the acquisition of trans-Tasman undertaking operation the Bledisloe Group.

It follows on from a promising investor update last month showing average revenue per funeral for the first four months of the year was up 5.7 per cent, meaning tight consumer purse strings are loosening at the pearly gates.

NB: Invocare provided an internal statement to the CCANSW yesterday. Members can access it here.
