Blue Mountains: Controversial crematorium plans scrapped

crematorPlans for a crematorium at Faulconbridge have been scrapped after a local funeral company discontinued its appeal in the NSW Land and Environment Court.

Legal representatives for the Carrick Group Pty Ltd gave Blue Mountains City Council (BMCC) formal notice the appeal would be discontinued and filed documents in court late last week, with the company required to pay the council’s costs in the case.

The move brought to an end a 17-month battle between the company, the council and local residents over the issue.

Carrick Group directors Michael and Leonie Carrick said in a statement while they were disappointed, they would continue to provide services through their current company, Blue Mountains Funerals.
