What should I consider when choosing a coffin or casket?

Posted by: Mary Reid

The decision to select a coffin or casket is made by the family concerned according to personal preference.  For many people, the coffin or casket is regarded as an important tribute and it is therefore selected with careful consideration.  Always check with your cemetery for any conditions on the shape, materials and size of coffin that is applicable for your preferred gravesite.  Some cemeteries may only accept environmentally friendly materials.

You need to consider if the burial is above ground or below ground as this effects the preparation of the body before the burial.
