A memorial can be arranged within the crematorium grounds, at another cemetery, or perhaps interred in an existing family grave.  Some people retain the ashes and others request that the cremated remains be scattered.  To assist the grieving process the Cemeteries and Crematoria Association of NSW recommend that cremated remains be placed in a memorial or grave, either within the grounds of a crematorium or cemetery.  The memorial becomes a focal point to visit and pay respect to the deceased and can include an inscription or image depicting the person’s life.

Contact the cemetery or crematorium to arrange the interment and obtain advice on memorialisation.

If the disposition is required on any public area (sports field, park, waterways, etc.) you will need to contact the relevant authority for the chosen area before proceeding with the scattering.
